Repair experts at iFixit have torn apart the new Apple iPad Air, successor of the Apple iPad 4G. They have given the new iPad a repairability score of 2, meaning it not at all easy to repair.Ipad-Air-Apple-Gadget-HD-Desktop

iFixit concludes, “Pad Air Repairability Score: 2 out of 10 (10 is easiest to repair).”

There are only two things that will not give you any problems when trying to repair the iPad Air. First, “The LCD is easy to remove once the front panel is taken off the iPad.” Second, “The battery is not soldered to the logic board. We’ll give it that.”

Apart from these two things, everything else will give you problems. First, “Just like in previous iPads, the front panel is glued to the rest of the device, greatly increasing the chances of cracking the glass during a repair.” Second, “Gobs, gobs, and goblins of adhesive hold everything in place. This is the most difficult battery removal procedure we’ve seen in an iPad.” Third, “The LCD has foam sticky tape adhering it to the front panel, increasing chances of it being shattered during disassembly.” Fourth, “You can’t access the front panel’s connector until you remove the LCD.”
